October '99 - Mauricio Calvo's 150 L Planted Discus Tank.

Since I'll be spending these next few months working in Argentina, I've decided to pay a small homage to my neighbors by featuring a sample of the local talent. This month's beautiful tank belongs to my argentine net-friend Mauricio Calvo, a friendly, helpful and regular visitor of this site. As always, Discus and Plants are a guarantee of very rewarding results, as long as proper effort is given to satisfy their particular requirements. Here's the technical data on the tank:

Volume: 150 L
Filtration: one Fluval 303 (perlon and ceramics, no carbon), connected to a Seastorm 100
Lighting: 5x20 W, with 2 Aquaglo, 2 Grolux, and 1 Daylight, on for 12 hours/day
Substrate: Fine gravel and sand, over a deactivated UGF
Fertilizers: Tetra Hilena Crypto and Flora Pride
CO2:DIY injector.
Temperature:1 Visitherm de 100 W, 29ºC
Ornaments: two pieces of driftwood
Plants: Vallisnerias, Ferns, Java Moss, Sagittarias, Myriophillum, Hygrophilas, and a few floating plants.
Fish:5 Discus, 6 Cardinals, 6 Rummy Noses, 7 Serpaes, 1 Pleco, 5 Shrimps, 1 Sword
Feeding: Tetra Discus, Freeze Dried Blood Worms, Mosquito Larvae, and homemade spread.
