My dojo loach is truly one of a kind - he can “walk” to the bathroom and crawl up into the usually filled bathtub!

He lives in a 10 gallon tank with 2 other dojo loaches. The first time he did this I thought he had escaped and gone down some vents in my room. Then I decided that I would go brush my teeth since I figured that he probably was dead.

Actually, he was on the floor of my bathroom climbing, or at least trying to climb, the side of the tub. I quickly scooped him up and put him in the tank. He did it again an hour later. I watched him “crawl” his way across my room, then under the door out into the hallway then into the bathroom where he “flipped and slid” over to the tub!

Since then, I have always had my bathtub filled and have added what I call Dojo Steps. They are clay blocks he can climb up. He even can get out of the tub. I also put the tank in the bathroom on the counter, with small steps leading to the ground. He moves freely between homes - he treats his fish tank like it's just a summer getaway house to visit once in a while.

Once, when I got in the tub, drained the water and was starting to take a shower (it’s a tub with a bath nozzle at the bottom and a shower nozzle up above) he “hopped” out of his tank and came in looking pretty angry. He was burrowing under my feet when I would try to step into the actual stream of water, so that I couldn’t rinse.

Since then I have been sticking to the downstairs shower.
