Hagen - Life-Glo Fluorescent Aquarium Lamps
Nice colour rendering, but way too expensive due to the internal reflector. Use Sunglos with reflectors, you'll get the same effect cheaper, as the reflectors can be used over and over again.
I just picked one of these lights up the other day and the difference it made in my 20gal tank was amazing. I was using a sun-glo tube before and this is twice as bright. As far as I'm concerned well worth the extra money.
I agree these are worth the extra money too! My plants grow so much better with the Life-Glo lamp! The lamp also brings out the color in the fish a lot better.
I find that using a mixed spectrum lighting brings better results in a planted tank. In my 120x60x60 cm tank, planted mainly with Eusteralis Stellata, I use the combination of Life-glo x2, Flora-glo x2 and Power-glo x1. Using 3 timers...I set the Flora-glo to light up from 9 am to 6 pm, the Life-glo from 12 noon to 6 pm, while the Power-glo from 12 noon to 9 pm. The result is truly amazing, especially with a diffcult plant like E. stellata.
I purchased two 15 Watt screw-ins and put them in my 40 L tank and the effect is amazing! My flame Dwarf Gourami looks so much better and colorful and so does the rest of the tank! The Java moss, Java ferns, and moneywort are growing so much better! I recommend these to everyone!
