Atman/Ultrajet Canister Filters
I own an Atman EF3 canister filter which has been now running for almost 1 year. An excellent filter, I have had no problems as of now. Pros: very very quiet, easy to install, big media baskets, priming plug on the top of the canister, double taps with shut off valves (inlet and outlet), good water preassure (packed with media), consumes 22 Watts (600 liters/hour), good quality construction, very little bypass when the trays are fixed tight, one third the price of Eheim (similar size). Cons: no instructions in the box, comes with only with 1 coarse and 1 fine filter floss, getting parts may be a problem, but was told that Eheim and Atman are interchangeable, no warranty, no idea as to how long it will last.
I have owned a Atman EF3 for just less than a year. This is a superb filter. The quality of these filters is excellent. They are very quiet (compared it to Eheim), very little media bypass if the trays are fixed snug, come with a ceramic shaft and a good quality impeller and have 2 media trays for easy cleaning. The package comes with everything you need: filter media, taps, spare gaskets, spray bar, u-tubes, extra pipes, hoses, suction cups. On the whole, I highly recommend this product, though I am not sure of the availablity of spares, but read somewhere that the parts are identical to that of Eheim. I am writing this review after I compared it to Eheim.
I have the Atman 3336 currently running on a 200 L FO Marine tank. Thus far it has been highly reliable and efficient, although like all canister filters, it needs regular emptying to prevent waste build up in the bottom, which inevitably recirculates through the aquarium. I am yet to find any 'official' replacement filter media for the product, which could be its downside, as the filter wool (the first stage of filtration) gets very dirty very quickly. Having said that, it's still a very effective filter for my setup and I would recommend it.
I've been using the Atman 3338 on a 200 litre goldfish tank, and so far it hasn't had a single glitch. Very quiet compared to the Hydor canisters or even some of the Eheims, plus it comes with all you need minus filtration media. I haven't seen any media bypass, and the flow rate is pretty good. As previously said, it has 3 baskets, filter floss and coarse filter media. The tubes don't get algae buildup as much as other products. I received an instruction booklet with mine, and it doesn't have a warranty, although I'm not worried about that because it seems to be working great.
