I have four of these guys (sold as red chromides) in my 150 L brackish tank. I started out with one, but he always seemed so lonely. Ever since I bought him three friends, they always stay in their little group, totally peaceful, very friendly and tame. Their tankmates are two adult mollies, two large mono argentus, three small ruby scats, one 18 cm silvertip shark, and a pair of black knight gobies. I fluctuate the salinity from 1.005 in the beginning and end of the month to 1.015 in the middle of the month, everybody is thriving.

This is another one of the beautiful fish, which has spectacular coloration if fed properly. It stays in groups. If kept alone it would not be energetic and brilliant. It is always viable to keep them in groups. They are much peaceful in comparison to the other groups of cichlids.

Orange Chromides are peaceful, but sometimes aggressive. I originally bought 2 pairs of juveniles but the males killed off the females. It's been 6 months and now they play happily with the tiger barbs and german blue rams. They are best kept with other semi-aggressive species.
