The Splash Tetra is the hardiest fish I have ever had. I kept it at a pH of 7.0 and temperature of 24°C. I have a 200 liter tank with schools of neons, glowlight, rasboras and Splashes. Sometimes they all school together when my two discus get near them. Very hardy fish, I recommend for the beginner aquarist, but remember, get at least 6 Splash tetras and they will live longer and better.

I got a pair of the black banded variety. Just a word of caution, these fish do jump out of the water to reproduce on the undersides of overhanging plants. My aquarium cover had only a 5 cm corner space where the heater and filters were placed. Within two days, both fish managed to jump out to the floor, which meant game over.
