I have a pair of these lovely fish. They are quite happy, kept in my community tank with everything else. When I added them to the tank they were a drab silver and grey colour, with no destinction between the two. My wife and I looked at them and drew the conclusion that they appeared very piggy to look at, and I daren't tell her they were african cichlids so to speak. Two months have past since I put them in and nothing has changed, apart from the fact the insignificant little pigs have turned into the two most striking fish in the tank, the male has got the most striking black stripe and a lovely gold colour on his top fin, and the female is always close by him, but there is no mistaking her with a lovely red spot on her belly. She has started filling out around the belly now, but I've seen no nest as such yet...fingers crossed though!
