I would be interested in finding out what type of bulb it actually is. Possibly a mercury lamp. Lights such as these (including metal halides) tend to shift their color spectrums after a while, so the color rating may not be exact for very long.

You can buy metal halide setups on eBay for about the same price there, by the way, so it may not be such a great deal (of course, if that's Canadian, then it's a little different).

I will check into the bulb type when I go to town next.
With mh, what spectrum are you supposed to shoot for?Is it still at least 10k?

For corals, you'd do best to have a variety. Normally a 6500K MH bulb with actinic FL bulbs will get you the best overall look and response.
