don't know what to post this in so here goes. I recently as in two days ago bought a pice of drift wood from the reptile section at my favorite lfs so any way I brought it home and boiled it for 15 mins then put it in my tank after it cooled well I woke up the next day to find some weird slime coat all over the piece of wood so my freind took it out of the tank and washed all the stuff off it then put it back in only to find it happend all over again whats wrong with it?

http://www.skepticalaquarist.com/docs/aquascaping/wood.shtml

Look at the section under Fungi on Wood, its quite a common problem. I used to have it all over mine but its slowly disappeared.

I don't think so because once or twice I saw my own fish nibbling away at it and theyre all fine and healthy. But don't hold me to that because I'm not 100% sure!
