I have a 50 gal. I am using live sand for substrate. I have to mix the saltwater in the tank, so should I put the sand in first? I am afraid that the freshwater will kill the amphipods. Or should I mix in the saltwater mix, and then dump the live sand in?

fill the tank 3/4 the way up depending on how much sand you are adding. get the level correct then get the whole bag place it into the bottom of the tank and with a knife or razor slice the bag open and slowly poor it in so as not to get the water too cloudy with sand. a buddy tried it and it worked fine. be careful and don't cut yourself.
