OK, I have 2 jewel cichlids and 2 female auratus and 1 pleco in a 29 gallon tank. I found out that you can't keep jewel and auratus together so I am going to have an all auratus tank and keep the pleco until he out grows the 29 gallon. Many people have said to have about 6 females and one male. The problem is I don't want to have babies everywhere and I don't want to stress out the females. Would it be okay to just keep about 6 or 7 females? Can they make a pecking order and get along okay? The one female I have now that was the first in the tank is the dominant. I was going to add the new auratus in large groups so the domiant female can't pick on just one. What do you guys think?
I like danios. I also like cichlids and shrimp and tetras and gourami and... this could go on for a while.
