Hey people.

Long time no see.

As you know I'm just getting back into fish keeping and what have you. I have just ordered a Super Discus plant collection from a supplier I use from the internet (http://www.aquaticplants.eu.com/).

I remember reading an article on planted tanks recently that I took away two useful tips from.

A) Arrange your "centerpiece" at the golden ratio mark in the tank. I bet you want to know what the golden ratio number is, don't you? OK...let me go look.
Quote:
The ratio for the best placement of it would be 1:1.618, or about 3/5. Some people don't even need to think about this, it just comes naturally to them. Some people think of the golden rule as the 'optical center.'"

B) Pick a basic shape for the aquascaping. Most common is tall on the right and left and short in the middle. You can do the reverse, too, where it's tall in the middle and short on the sides. You can also do a wedge where it's tall on the right or left and short on the opposite side. The point is that there's background visible from the tank. If you do purely tall all along the back of the entire tank it won't be as pleasing, visually.
