1.) When Java Moss has attached and has grown a bit, are you able to take peices of it and put it in different areas?

2.) When planting Java Fern, do you tie the roots down to the rock or do you tie the plant body to the rock?

Tie the rhizome (roots) to the rock NOT the plant body. I usually use a dark green cotton thread since it dissolves over time.

Yes, as the Java Moss grows outward trim back the excess and attach it with black cotton thread where you see fit.

I tie down the rhizome (the thick "stem" at the base of the plant which the roots grow out of) to rocks/bogwood with black cotton thread. Tie it down in an area that has nooks and crannies so the roots have an area to take hold. The cotton thread will rot away but by the time it does the roots should have a good grip.
