I have an adult ancistrus plec 5.5'' long. Lately his behaviour has changed a little. I believe he is hungry.

I feed mainly for the fish community not for him, although any tablet food (algae tabs) I put in the tank the corries or other fish seem to get it even after lights out.

I do feed the fish courgette (zuccini) though.

This fish is in a new tank also, in which there is no established algae as a food source either.

Are there any other foods that a plec will eat and give good nutrition that other fish will not touch ?

I have read that beans are good, although I am not sure which type.
I believe that the article said "green beans", although I don't know which these are (Runner beans, broad beans, Kidney beans etc)

Any ideas would be appreciated?

Thanks
Mike

I don't know, Mike, what other fish are housed with him? Does he have driftwood to snack on? Mine seems to like broccoli, zucchini, spinach and so on. I feed algae wafers and shrimp pellets a couple times a week, too. But most of the fish in my tanks will eat the same food. I've never tried green beans.

Hi Dawn.

I have Discus and Corries and "spot" the PLEC.

Yes I have loads of Mopani wood, for the Discus' Security and to hold the plants rizomes.

I also feed the Discus beefheart, in which there is food processed Spinnach, but most of the food gets eaten before the plec even comes out to feed.

At night, the corries get the food before the plec.

it may just be me, he is still alive after 18months or so.
