Hi. I have a 2 gallon hex that I've started cycling. I'm on day 3 and so far I don't have a nitrite reading. it's got a small UGF, but is there anything else I can add to help bacteria grow besides adding a box filter or something?

I don't have a heater yet because the temp is pretty constant so far... any input would help...

You could get some gravel from a matured established tank and put it in your tank.

I don't mean initially. I could have done that, but I mean more permanantly. Can I put the established gravel in cheesecloth and then pull it back out in a few weeks?

That should work just fine. I generally take used filter floss squeeze it into the water then use all or part of it in the new filter. Of course the more the merrier.
