Firstly, I'm very grateful for the help I get here, but I regret that I can't contribute much becuase I'm still wallowing in incompent boobery, when it comes to Saltwater stuff.

My question is about the Ushio (german) 175W 10K bulbs. The manufacturer indicates that this particular bulb needs to be run on an M137 Pulse start ballast. I have a M57 probe start Ballast. The 2 lfs's that I have called, assure me that it would work on my probe start ballast.

My instinct was to follow the manufacturers recommendations, but I see that the Ushio 175W's are very commonly being used in probe start ballast, althouhg this may casue complications in the future. I had a freind who had no luck running an Ushio 175W on an M57 ballast. I was wondering if any of you out there did? I figure it's a crapshoot.

Also, could my MH bulb temp go as low as 5500K (a domestic bulb), so long as I had actinic supplementation? (2x 20W actinic)
