I just came from my LFS and they have on sale what they call a "Gold Algae Eater" .. The fish is totally yellow/gold in color, and I have been searching the web for any info on it, but to no avail, anyone knows what kind is it? Any help on genus/pics/compatiblity/etc. would be appreciated

Thanks!

Sounds to me like a chinese algee eater if so don't buy it while it does a good job of eating algee while small when it groes to its full size it will attack other fish.

crocodylus,
It would help if you gave your location...... others may live near you who may know where to get certian fish, plants, supplies etc.

Good luck with the SAE search. If you are ever in the Balto/Wash area I know of a great shop(they have SAEs).

That is a picture and info on a golden algae eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri) listed at http://www.azgardens.com/newalgaeaters.htm. Is it the same as the fish your LFS carries?
