Hiya everyone!

I am planning on building a big pond Very Happy how big should the pond be if I were to have around 20 white cloud mountain minnows in there bearing in mind them breeding?

I'd think 150 - 200g would be PLENTY big. That's a pretty small pond, so you probably won't have too much trouble digging it. Do you plan to use a rigid or soft liner? What kind of filtration? Plants?

if your winter temps are below 40 degrees you would have to have it small enough that you can catch them to bring them in the house in a fish tank to overwinter

I'm using pond liner, the rubber heavy duty stuff(I don't know what you mean by rigid or soft liner) and am planning to make a wildlife pond. I don't know hardly anything about pond filtration- you'll have to tell me whats best to use and I am going to have lots of plants.

Research would be the key to your filtration question.

Rigid describes the "peanut ponds" that hang form the walls of the gardening store. No matter what you do, they stay as peanuts(unless, you get them round....)

Soft liner allows you to dig your pond in any desired shape(including peanut). This is good if your pond is fairly large or if you have special plans to make your pond fit the scenery.

Apparently white clouds are supposed to be the easiest or one of the easiest fish to breed so you would end up with a lot of white clouds anyway. But I have had my 9 white cloud since may in my 1500 gal pond and they still havn't bred.

haha lol, they all stick together actually in a small shoal/school. I now have 6 more too, and therefore I now have a larger shoal and as far as I know they still havn't bred.
