Hi all,

I have some common goldfish and I always feed flakes which they love. I see at some stores they feed them like a slice of orange. Is that a good thing? If so, should I be feeding them that or just flakes or maybe a combination?

This is the second question dealing with orange slices in goldfish tanks, and I am baffled.
Goldfish do very well with added fresh veggies or live plants to thier diet: it aids digestion, but the orange slice thing escapes me entirely. Perhaps it improves color???

Yeah, I'm totally blown away from that. I'm just curious how people are supplementing it to their goldfish. I mean, like is it bad to feed it a lot of oranges or an even balance of flakes an oranges, etc. So far I'm only aware that PEtsmart does this, and I have seen a few of the stores do this. So I'm just curious if everyone else is doing it.

Granted, but I've also seen PetsMarts feed goldfish and African cichlids heaps of bloodworms. They can't digest THAT much protein.

I'm not sure what that's all about, I suggest ASKING a Petsmart employee, since they are the ones that do it. I would not feed citrus fruit to my goldfish unless I knew WHY I was doing so.

I hope this not a big deal since I posed the same question in the Equipment thread. Since this is the Goldfish thread people who frequent this one can offer more ideas. Well I have a 55gallon tank for some goldfish. The only available filter I have for the tank is a AC200. A few people said I should just use another AC200 and that would be fine. How about a AC300? Would that really make a differance or should I just stick witht he extra AC200, so have them both running at the saem time.

Vitamin C is used to treat and prevent 'scoliosis'. No idea what the symptoms of it are though.

Thanks Sherry,

I just bought a AC200 since they ran out of the AC300, but I doubt it'll be much of a difference. Also, it'll make it easier interchagin media when cleaning , etc.
