I just got a 55 gallon aquarium Very Happy and am debating on making it a Paludarium or a Marine tank. I've wanted both but I can only have one in. The tank is used, but holds water; I've already got it cleaned and it's ready to go. With a marine tank I would like to use a natural system of filtration (e.I. macro algeas and live sand and Live rock.) the problem is none of the filters for sale seem to do what I want and I don't want to spend the kind of money they're asking for the specific filter. Anyway I was wondering how to make an overflow to a smaller 20 gallon high I have. By not buying the filter I can spend more money on a PC lighting system and chiller. any help would be appreciated
thanks Orion

I would try some net searches under diy wet dry filters, there has to be more than a few pages of info already out there.
