My neighbor was moving last week, and since he had seen all of the tanks in my house, gave me a brand new tank that he got as a present and didn't want to move. It's a gorgeous Oceanic Systems 75 gallon.

One problem--it has side vents for reptiles~! ARGH--I am wondering if I could use silicone sealant and glass/acrylic to seal the vents and make this a cichlid tank. Either that, or I'll have to sell it.

Any ideas? Am I crazy? Question

I would check out how much you could get for it.....some tanks like that sell for more than ordinary tanks. Very Happy Take it to a herp shop and get an estimate! It might be wise to check out any herp breeders and see if they would take it off your hands.

Sealing it depends on the size of the vents, but I would go with a new tank. Smile

My 2 cents...

That's what I'll probably end up doing, b/c it's a very nice, high-quality tank that's never been used, and any herp fans would probably cry if they saw me modify it.

I'll probably find some forums and post it for sale.

I'm getting sick of eBay!
