Hi,

I don't know which is the cheapest but glass tanks have a lot of advantages over arcylic. Glass doesn't scratch easily, it doesn't stain easily and personally I think it looks better, sort of better viewing (do you know what I mean?)

Dan

P.s. I don't know but glass is proably more expensive (just a guess)

I would think the glass would probably be cheaper. Acrylic tanks are usually more expensive than glass ones so it is a safe bet that a piece would be more also.

www.garf.org/BuildTank.asp

You misspelled the link. I'd go with the Glass. Its cheaper and Harder to scratch. Plus in your application of just one piece of glass it makes sense.

The main advantage of acrylic over glass is the seams are so much stronger.

Here you have no seams so you don't need to worry about that.

Depending on the tools you have, and the people (and skills) availble to you, the "better" of the two, glass or arcrylic, changes. If you are just buying sheets of glass and must cut them, I might lean towards acrylic. Personally, however, I know a few people who can cut glass for me, so I don't have a problem there. Smile

There are topics in the Chemistry and Equipment on acrylic vs. glass..... Here's a good one
