Awesome! great layout! It proves that bigger is better.
It's the first time I see a planted tank for african cichlids.

wow nice cichlid tank. what is that fish with the funny yellow thing on its head. its the third picture. well good tank! keep the pics coming!

Yes the slate just has little pieces stacked 3 high inbetween the layers, and they are all held together with a little bit of black aquarium silicone.

Waffleman, cichlids and plants do not usually go together very well, but I researched the tank for quite a while (like 6 months) before I bought anything, and I still had some problems along the way, but I think the work is paying off. I knew if I could just get everything to live, the tank would look great. I was originally dead set on mbuna, but after some looking around I discovered tangs and the problem was solved. I think that mbuna might have been more trouble than they were worth.

The calvus? It's the same species as the pic before it, thats just a plant behind it! FYI, I listed all the fish in a later post on page one of this thread.
