Hello everyone,

Thought I would just up load a few pictures of my new tank. I am new to planted tanks so any comments and suggestions will be very helpful don't be afraid of telling me what you really think as constructive criticism can be more useful than just saying nice tank. Smile

Plants are as follows:
anubias heterophylia
dracaena sanderiana yellow
nomaphila stricta
micranthemum umbrosum
java moss and fern
eleocharis vivipara
echinodorus compacta

Tank parameters and stuff like that:
Size: 112 liters (25UK gallons / 30US gallons)
Temp: 23C but went up to 25 yesterday when it was hot.
Light: 40 Watts.
Lighting times:10 hours 2pm till midnight.
Filter: 204 Fluval external canister.
Substrate: Normal fine gravel with added laterite and iron plant tabs.
CO2 Source: DIY CO2, bell reactor.

One other I can't find the name for. Sad

Let me know what you really think.

Looking forward to your replies thanks,

Puffing Puffer.

Just curious what kind of livestock you have?
I'm new to aquariums too, don't even have my tank up yet!
I like the plants you have though, it'll be really nice once they fill out!!

It looks like all he has in there is a small goldfish?! Or did you add newer fish?

That will be a very nice tank, especially once it fills in. Good assortment of plants. The only suggestions I would have is to add a large rock or piece of drifwood with some height to it and a background (black is usually very good).

That looks like it will develop into a very nice tank! Very Happy

What are the occupants?

A background would bring the attention even moreso towards the plants and makes it much easier to see lightly colored fish against a light wall.

Hi thanks for your comments - have got a black back ground to go on just waiting till I clean filter out before I put it on - will the sucker pads that hold the tubes in place stick to the background ?

I only have goldfish ( as seen ) and two otos in the tank at the moment - it is still not fully cycled couple of weeks to go - planning on geting dwarf puffers and or figure eight puffer but not sure if they need brackish water ? The gold fish is destined for my dads pond before any puffer fish go in - so don't you worry about him Very Happy he will be fine .

I also have another bit of wood but looks silly when in the tank ( too big I think ) but will now be looking into something else maybe a rock - any more suggestions welcome - thanks guys

I always think that beech twigs look ace in the aquarium. However, they must be cleaned well and made safe for aquarium use. Find some fallen off twigs and soak them etc. I think a couple of well branched twigs would look cool in your tank Smile . I can't find any, so havn't got a piuc of how they look, but if you want to, it adds originality. If this doesn't appeal to you ( Smile ) then maybe a piece of thin slate on the back glass with j.moss growing on it? Or perhaps some similar coloured rock creating caves or a single cave in the space to the front right of the tank.

these are my suggestions, take 'em or leave 'em, I just like t try and help Smile . Good luck in aquascaping.

Smile the_proff Smile

Not bad looking. Very clean look. Very clean as well. You may want to get a background. Having nothing is a bit distracting.

Nice tank! what are the dimensions of it?you could try a background using plants only, select tall ones that grow quickly and it will make your tank look more natrual. All in all thou nice job! Smile
