Today I checked on how the male was coming along with his bubblenest. I must say, I have never seen one this large! It covers almost all of the top of the tank!

WOW

Lol, I had one huge male of mine do that too when I tryed to breed him. covered every thing but about 2 inches to breath. Never did figure the breeding part out, just kept up with the nest and forgot about the female all together after a while. Embarassed

let me know if yours ever gets it right.

My males NEVER built any nests. Is there some kind of pills they can take?

I believe you are reffering to the bio-balls
I put a few in there to make sure that the bio-load is taken care of. My wet/dry filter is full of them, so if I ever have an emergency tank I have to setup, I can put some bio-balls in, and they have the beneficial bacteria on them. In this case, the male also liked to build his nest around them....and everything else in the tank Laughing

oh bio balls, how do they work?
I love betas, but when I had mine I only had some really old outta date books to go by and the advice of the lps so their tank was less than ideal. Now years later with the net at my finger tips and lots of places to get good and proper info I'm eager to learn.
My poor fish!! this time around when I set my tank up itll be done REALLy carefully!!

My betta built a nest close to that size. He tried ot impress the femlae with it........then he abandoned it and made another one that was a quarter the size, but very thick(it was between the heater and the glass). She spawned in the smaller one....and the big one was left to disentegrate.

I bet yours are goign to spawn soon....btw...is the female a crown tail?
