|
|
I believe I have a common Pl*co in a 55 gal. I never see him come out. He hides in a barrel and only comes out late at night. Although I admit my tank is "clear", I am just wooried because he is never out. Is it to much light, not enough algae? He is about 7 inches long. As always your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you all. _________________ JK |

Plecos usually hide during the day and only come out at night. He's just displaying normal behavior. If you don't think there's enough algae for him, buy some algae wafers or seaweed and give him some of that to munch on.

I know I shouldn't be posting off-topic stuff, why do you have an asterisk in pleco? _________________ www.core.gudio.com/forums |

It's an internet myth - that if you spell it out, your plec will die. It's also just a fun in-joke.
Agreed that it's normal behavior, but you should be giving him supplemental foods whether or not there's algae in the tank. Wafers, etc are great but at 7" I'd start in with canned veggies - spinach is favorite. _________________ -Molly

Hmm... I been spelling my fishies' names out and they've never died. Maybe I'm just special...

zucini, squash, cucumber, melons, my pleco loves them all. As do my mollies when they can get to it without the pleco being there.
I also supliment his diet with alge waffers and he eats shrimp pellets as well. Mine is about 7.5 inches and is a Leopard Sailfin Pleco. Its in my 55g tank and has about doubled in size sence I got him. |
