I have a cute little female platy who had a swollen abdomen. It started out when she was a little fatter than she used to be. I thought she was pregnant. She continued to grow. Now she has gotten bigger, but some of her scales are standing on end. I am treating her for dropsy, but do you think it is possible she is pregnant? Do the scales stand on end when they are pregnant? What are some symptoms of dropsy? Any help will be appreciated. I will take any advice. Thanks!!! :D

Its most likely dropsy, you can look in the article section under diseases and find some on it. also do a search on the forum for it and you will come up with a lot of discussions on it and what to do to help. When a platy is pregnant the scales do not usually stand out. I have one that is pregnant now and ready to burst. Good luck, it can be cured, just takes a little time and the right meds.
