|
|
hi my male betta in the 30 litre tank has nearly lost all his colouring and he's not been eating for the past few days.
The water params are fine and the other tank mates are guppys and danio's.
can anyone tell me what is up with him? _________________

update... he is now swimming funny and breathing heavily and was hiding upside down behind the filter.
I know he is on his way out.
can anyone please help so that I can tell if any of my other fish will get it? _________________

| What are the water parameters? If your ammonia is high it could be caused by the high ammonia levels. |

How long have you owned your betta and what and how often do you feed it? _________________ Keep your friends close, but keep your anemones closer. |

I've had him for about a month. he eats flakes and tubifex worms. I feed two small amounts a day.
at the moment he is still alive but I don't think he will last much longer _________________

| I know you said your water parameters are fine. However, it is hard to suggest what might be wrong if they are not stated here. What is the ammonia/nitirite/nitrate levels, and have you added any fish, or changed the diet lately? |

sorry but he died a few hours ago.after he had died (as I knew he would) I noticed a lump on the underside of him just below his gill area.
so I don't know if this could of been a cist or tumor.
I had to transfere my female guppy to that tank a few days prior due to the gourami's attacking them, maybe that was the reason, I just don't know.
ammonia 0,nitrites 0, nitrates 15. if these figures help. _________________

Linz85 I'm curious as to whether this betta was in the same tank that your Ram died in a few weeks ago? If it was, maybe we can help you better if you start at the very beginning and tell us the history on the tank, how it was cycled and with what fish are in it etc...The worst thing for a newer fishkeeper is to have multiple deaths and not being able to understand the underlying factors that are causing it. When that happens it's easy to get frustrated and want to quit. _________________

yes the rams where in with the betta but the betta kept them in check lol.
first in the tank when it was set up was the 5 noens 2 platys and a pair of rams.then we got hit with white spot.I tried treating with anti white spot plus from interpet, turning the temp up to 80'd and treated using salt.eventually all the neons died, also the rams. a few days later I got the male and female betta and rummy nosed tetra and also a golden loach and african dwarf frog.
I think the female betta was bullying the male because when it was ill the femalekept nipping the male.the danios where in there also for a week prior to the male dying.I lost a danio yesterday tho not my fault.
I have the heater in a heater casing and theres a gap at the bottom where the heater doesn't reach the bottom and somehow the danio got trapped in there and died .I would of thought the tank is cycled its been running for about 5 weeks(maybe 6).that is really all I can say _________________
