hi this is my female platy. I no the picture isn't really clear but I think its the best I can do as the fish will not keep still. lol
can you tell from the picture if my female is pregnant?
or is it a bad case of dropsy?

Thats a nice fatty right there! Make sure you get some fine vegetation for the fry if you plan on keeping them alive! Put a light on the other side of the tank and look through her. If you see a black mass by her anal opening, then shes a mommy! Very Happy

Be prepared, my molly gave birth to 25 fry. That was on a poor wal mart diet. My platy and swordtail are ready to blow anytime now. WHat have you been feeding the platy? Certain foods like worms and stuff can promote litter numbers Very Happy

oh no... I have been feeding her frozen brine shrimp.frozen blood worms.flakes,daphnia tubifex worms. what kind of vegitation?
I didn't really want live plants in my tank because I read they were to much trouble.
at the mo I have guppy fry and I have been feeding them the liquifry stuff and crushed shrimp.
arhhhhhhhhhhhhhh not more babies lol

I can't tell from the pic, but there is a pretty quick way to settle it.

On the platy's stomach, are any of the scales sticking up? If not, and you have males in the tank, than it is probably pregnant. If there are scales protruding, than it is probably dropsy.
