I finally found a home for my fish in my 20 gallon so I can start fresh all I have left is a pleco. Anyways I have a 20 gallon planted tank, its posted in the photo album on this board, its a fairly new post id put a link but I'm not sure how. I want some ideas of fish that would be a good addition to my tank. I want fish that won't hide all the time, be more active unlike the fish I had before and not be harmful to my plants. thanks in advance for any ideas.

a shoal or two of various species of tetra would be good. corys are also good and after a while become used to you and become less shy.

Hmm.....That is a great planted tank! I am visualizing a pair of rams(bolivian or german), and 10-12 neon tetras. In a larger group the neons won't hide near as much.

I would definitely say that a good set up might include the following:
A shoal of 10 or so smaller fish ( ie, Tetras, Cherry barbs, or the like)
A shoal of 4 corys ( will help keep the bottom clean)
A center piece fish or 2 ( Rams, Gouramis, or the like)
And an algae eater ( oto's, or Pleco wich you have)

Just a thought. hope it helps!

Just a point of clarification- if you are getting gouramis, go with Dwarf gouramis only as a pair. Most larger gouramis get very aggrressive if paired off with others in a tank your size.

I agree with Dr. I think a pair of Rams would ba an awesome addition to this tank, maybe a pair of Apsitos.

I think a school of Neons or Black neons or anyother neon that gets to 1-1 1/2 inches would be good too.

as for the cories I would suggest staying small with maybe Panda Cories or other cories that stay under 1 1/2 inches. but not dwarf cories, I have dwarf cories in a planted 5 gallon and I never see them, theyre always hiding in the plants and are no fun now.
