I have a couple of Applesnails in my 100L tank. I keep on finding eggs, but they never hatch. I am guessing that I have two females. My question is do the female lay unfertilised eggs or does no male mean no eggs. I want them to breed, so that I get a supply of small snails to feed my Fig 8 puffers. I have looked at the applesnail.net website, but couldn't find the answer. Any kind soul who has experience of apple snails who could give advice???

Duzzie

I think apple snails come out of the water to lay eggs. If they fall from where they are layed into the water they will die. The eggs need to be moist only, they die when they are completely submerged. My snail frequently goes up on to the tank lid and lays eggs there. They always fall into the water though.
