it's not mandatory, but a skimmer, especially for newbs like us, is a pretty useful thing to have... it pulls a lot of junk out of the water... _________________ 20g planted - 1.5 wpg - pea gravel/sand/laterite - DIY co2 |

yeah, I'd still be a great piece of equipment to have...
kdodds recommended a good quality skimmer that you can find here, you'll need to add a pump as well (also available from that site)... _________________ 20g planted - 1.5 wpg - pea gravel/sand/laterite - DIY co2 |

again, I'm just getting back into keeping marines and before my father did most of the "technical" stuff... "the new marine aquarium" is a great book for us beginners, you may want to look into getting it...
also, have you considered a quarantine tank? Walmart sells a ten gallon w/ top, lights, filter (basically everything) for $29.99 ... it's a great investment... _________________ 20g planted - 1.5 wpg - pea gravel/sand/laterite - DIY co2 |

Well, I will have a 10 gallon left over after all of my upgrades! lol
My current 10 gallon is going to be upgraded to a 15. And the saltwater is going to be a 29, so I'll have the 10 for quarentine _________________
