Great Pics, I wish I could get some of my 2 Fig8s. They are so cute, coming up to the glass looking for food everytime I pass the tank, even if their bellies are stuffed with food. Puffers are great fish to keep, but can be harder to look after than your standard tropicals _________________ Some day soon, we are all gonna swim. Seven tenths and rising. |

w5yw5y - their bellies flatten back out again within a couple of hours and they are HUNGRY ONCE MORE - they eat and eat!
There are 6 total in the 120L tank - they do shoal and don't seem to have territory issues (except at feeding time...it's MINE, NO it's MINE - they try and snatch the food from each other)
We have had these puffs for just over 6 months now - I don't know how old they were when we got them, but they have doubled in size since so I would assume they were juvies - they apparantly reach 10-15cm when adult! The tank looks v empty at the moment - they are about 6cm long.
Andrew - ours love bloodworms too but I'm worried about their beaks - no problems so far but Colomesus asellus are meant to have more teeth problems than any other puff, so they get cockles/mussels and snails to trim their beaks, and bloodworms as a treat. They totally ignore pelleted food or flakes!
Glad you enjoy. They remind me of little bees the way they 'buzz' around the tank! |
