Hi all,

I got two little ghost shrimp and two bigger amano shrimp a couple days ago, and they seemed to be doing great in a 3gal with biowheel. However, today I discovered little bits of dead pink shrimp on top of the filter pad! Sad Bits of shrimp legs on the gravel!!

It was the biggest amano, too, which was eating greedily before and I didn't even think could fit into the intake basket. I have seen all the shrimp casually walking right next to the intake, too, so it's not like the current was too strong.

I did notice a molted shell next to the uptake though. When shrimp molt, are they really weak? Maybe that's why it got sucked up?

Oops, forgot to ask, should I go get a few more amanos to join the one that's left? Do they appreciate each other's company?

Yes, they are a bit weak after having molted, - how weak I don't know, but maybe that could explain it. - and yes, although I don't know about amanos preferring to be alone or not, they seem to not mind each other at all, - ... I would buy a few more

Does your filter have like an intake tube? If it does you could put a little piece of sponge in it to keep it from sucking things up.
