I have a calico platy that has a small lump on the left side of her belly. Everytime she eats she blows up like a balloon and starts swimming funny. Then a few hours later she goes down again but her tiny lump is still there. She doesn't blow up much with blood worms or brine shrimp just flake food. I figure she is getting air with her food or can't take it dry. Either way she still has this lump. This tank has had ich - treated and done with Smile and had some bacterial medicine at one time for other fish problem, but her lump is still there. Any ideas???

Hi Frosty,

What colour is the lump? Is it pinkish white as may be 'Cauliflower disease' if it looks like a small cauliflower in appearance.

Please let us know. It could also be an ulcer which seems to be increasingly a problem at the moment.

It is hard to tell. She has a whitish tummy, actually it looks more white/yellowish. I am picking up film tonight and hopefully can get you a picture. Can you tell me a bit more about cauliflower disease or ulcers and I can compare to maybe her behavior or looks??
