hey all

has anyone heard of t5 tek lighting for aquariums??

I've done some research and I've found the 36" t5 tek lighting comes with 2,4,6,8 bulbs but the store I want to buy it from is selling it in 3 bulbs and a lot cheaper too.

they say its the same but the bulbs are only 21watts instead of 39watts.

has anyone had experience using this product?
is it worth buying??

I just got a Tek T5 48" 6 bulbs to use over a 75G and it is a great fixture.
I have never heard of a 3 bulb Tek Light Fixture though.
If it is 36" then the bulbs should be 39 watts not 21 watts.
Somehing fishy there.
Go to the their website http://www.sunlightsupply.com and look through all the Tek Hoods they have.

I bought mine from reekgeek.com.

You can also get the horticultural version which is very similar to the aquariums version. The only diffrenence is that the aquarium version
has 2 light cords for the 4,6,8 bulbs and the horticultural version has only one cord, they both have dual on/off swithces though.

Here is the prices I got after doing some research on it. Hope it will save you some time if you want to get one. the prices are for the 6 bulb version.

hey thanks for the detailed reply

I've read those sites and they gave me good info
so now I need to go back to the store and check it out again. they definately said 3 bulbs

those prices are for America and I live in Australia so I need to like add another $100+ dollars in conversion, so they are way out of my price range

my tank at the moment is a low light tank and it is going well with crypts, java fern and moss.

the only reason I want this light is for the fact that it is so cheap but I'm wondering now if it is a cheap imitation of the ones in those websites you supplied me.

so I need to look again at the store I found it at.

when I went there they said it was low watts but higher intensity.
is that the k level???
