|
|
I'm experienced with fish, but relatively new to inverts. I have a low light tank with no corals, but assorted filter feeders and gorgonians. (Feather Dusters, Flame Scallops) I was wondering if anybody had kept flame angels with scallops and feather dusters and if they nip at them. I had a bicolor with them and it left the scallops alone but pestered the feather dusters so much they would not come back out until 2 days after I removed the angel.
BTW, Thank you to all the people who have been helping me with my questions with my many previous posts. Your help is greatly appreciated! _________________ 370 Gallon Marine FO

If you can return the Flame Scallop, I would. They live very short lives in our tanks, until they die of starvation. Most can not keep them for more than a couple of months. Flame Angels shouldn't pester worms (ditto on the feeding with FDs as well), but you never know. _________________ Kieron Dodds

I've had my flame scallops for 1 and a half years now. I think I'm going to keep them. Same with the feather dusters. I just haven't taken the next step into corals. _________________ 370 Gallon Marine FO

All I do is give them Kent Micro Vert Filter feeder food once every three days. I use a syringe to target feed. I don't have a protein skimmer in there either, so I make a 30% water change everyweek. I originally bought 5 scallops one and a half years ago but 2 died within the first few months, one died last month, and the two I have left seem like they are doing well. I don't plan on returning them because they are cheap and seem to be doing well. Thanks a lot for the help. _________________ 370 Gallon Marine FO

Again Congrats! You seem to be doing something right, MicroVert and no Skimmer, I'll have to remember that. BTW, IMO, "cheap" shouldn't be a judgement making "disposable" animals okay to keep. More power to you with your seeming success, tho. _________________ Kieron Dodds

Oh, that wasn't my idea. I agree with you 100% with the fact that the price shouldn't determine what I do with the animal. My point was, that they are not extremely expensive, and they are also doing well. If they were say, $100 and had the same reputation, I would return them even if they were doing well. Sorry for the mix up, I'm totally against the "disposal animal" idea too. _________________ 370 Gallon Marine FO
