I've noticed two of my neons have been breathing hard(one breathing faster then the other) at the bottom of the tank 2-3 inches above the gravel. my tank is cycled and I am pretty sure my amonia and nitrates or nitrite are all okay. could this be a fluke or some type of gill rot? oh and some other neons (might be the same or dif) and some of my leopard danios have been "shimmying" or scratching.but its not ich because I don't see the white spots. oh and the neons with the breathing look very fat.

Any info would be very helpful Smile

How big is your tank? What are the inhabitants? Have your recently tested your water?

Fish scratching themselves on the gravel or rocks is a symptons of parasites. Treat the tank for broad spectrum medication to treat all types of parasite. Use a system of elimination in diagonising diseases.

Good Luck

The same thing happened to some of my neons. I never figured out what it was in time. I hope you do find the cause before it's too late.
