I just finished treating my 37G tank for ICH....all 5 neon rainbowish were only infected...cories didn't get infected...
but at the same time as I noticed the ICh.....I noticed they had white fluff on the end of their mouth....it's been over 2 weeks and it hasn't' gottten worse or better. They are swimming around great and eating great.
I was told that it could be FLEX...but when ifirst put them in the tank , they were swimming like crazy that they'd bump and crash into the tank walls....
Since it isn't getting worse and their behavior is fine and appeitite...could it still be FLex?
(ammonia .25, no nitrties less than 10 nitrates pH 7.0 temp 79) Tank up for about 3 weeks.
Thank you in advance Rolling Eyes

I'd most likely blame a fungus (mouth fungus). Fungus usually doesn't effect swimming posture (in my personal experience) but mouth fuinus generally would hurt the fish's ability to eat. I'd find a med that works against fungus in general or mouth fungus in particular. Good Luck!

I mentioned that the fish are eating great and don't have swim issues...
The white fluff on their mouths aren't getting worse over the course of 2 weeks or any better....

I would still treat for fungus. White cotton looking stuff is usually fungus.

I read that what is mistaken as fungus, is really FLex....

But FLEX is often accompanied by erratic swimming, wasting away, floating... Since the fsh aren't exhibiting these disporders, it leads me to blame a fungus. If you don't believe me, treat for FLEX. If it still doesn't go away, treat for fungus.

What did you use to treat your ick? Sometimes medications can knock out more than one type of disease. Check your label and see if it says anything about fighting bacterial infections, too. If it does, then maybe we can rule out FLEX (since it would've been cured at the same time the ick was).

So it says it treats fungal infections? We're both talking about the ick med right, b/c ick is a parasite, not a fungus. If the ick medication says that it also treats fungus, go get an anti-bacterial med for treating FLEX. If it doesn't treat anything except for parasites, buy a med for fungus or bacteria (broad range medication would be best).
