I have five of them, and I think/hope that at least three of them are female. They are a little older than juveniles, but not full grown (~4cm). How do you tell the difference? The one I know that is male is bright, and it is hard to explain what exact color he is because he is quite irridescent, as are others. His fins are slightly yellow. Are all males like that? There is another one that is the same color, but lacks the yellow in the fins. Then there are some that are more purple, like a grape popsicle purple. Some of those ones have stripes.

So, if you could ID the gender of my fish, or maybe give some general input, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, I seem to have left out that small detail. They are mbuna, more specifically metriaclima callinos.

Can't really say judging on a verbal description. Can you get some pics of each fish posted?

Generally mature males are blue and have more egg spots on the anal fin; females tend towards orange with fewer or no egg spots.
