I'm worried about my Khuli loaches and would appreciate a little advice from a Loach expert out there.

A few weeks ago 2 of my 6 Khuli loaches started to loose their brown colour. It started very gradualy and at first I assumed it was simply a natural camoflague as they matched the colour of the sand in my tank. Now their skin/scale colour has faded away to almost and off-white colour and I'm starting to worry Confused

I've searched online but I can't find any forums, threads or websites that have been able to explain this phenomen!

Does anyone know why this is happening? Are the poor little fella's ill and if so what's the best treatment for them?

Just for clarity, the fading colour seems to start on the underside of their bodies and move around the sides towards the top. The fading is generally even all over and takes about 2 weeks to cover 40% of their bodies Crying or Very sad

I'm re-opening this thread because I had read this when it was posted and unbelievably, my khulis did the same thing yesterday! I was so scared they were sick. So I immediately came back to this post. I think it would be interesting if we could figure out why this happens.

There are so many variables in my tank right now that it would be hard to narrow down the cause but I did tear thru the tank yesterday to catch a fish (really freaked the khulis out) and then last night my temperature went up 3 degrees in a few hours Shocked . I'm leaning toward stress as the cause, but that's just my input.

Ironically, the coloration of the khulis is completely normal this morning and they are moving about and scavenging. I hope they are in the clear, but that was really odd-looking to witness them blanching from the bottom up over just a few hours. Sin, I hope yours are OK too.
