I have heard how these fish are the badest in the tank but I have two that have never shown that behavior at all. When I feed my Jaguar they will run from the feeder fish. Has anyone else had these fish with this attitude? Question

How old are they? I have one and he/she was in a 120 gal tank with a JD, Texas, Black Shark, an Oscar and few other misc. Cichlids 3-6" each. He was in a smaller tank before with the same fish except the Oscar and things were fine. He is now almost a year old and the aggression is escalating. He is not actually hurting anyone but he defends his territory much stronger and if it continues I will not be able to continue with them all in the same tank. It's a shame because I am really at tached but I am not willing to devote that large of a tank to just him. If you have an actual pair in a large enough tank that may work. I am not sure Midas would be considered the baddest, but due to their "bulk" a little aggression goes a long way!

I would say they are around 6 months old and I am not sure if they are male and female. I have them in with a 7 in Jaguar and I am looking to up to an 180 gallon tank in the near future.

I had one in a tank with a jaguar, oscar, pike cichlid, Texas cichlid, Jack Dempsey, African knife, angelicus cat, and pleco in my old tank and they all got along together pretty well. Sometimes I saw some posturing and lip locking between the cichlids, but that was it. If you keep them with similarly sized and tempered fish, you usually won't notice the attitude they have as much.
