K, I finally got myself a Nano Cube! I want to do a salt water mini-reef with it, but I don't know what kind of coral I can put in there. It uses a 24 watt power compact bulb, so there's about 2 watts per gallon. If you figure in the live rock, sand, and filtration system there's prolly more like 2.5 or something watts, but I don't think that'll make much of a difference. Could I do anything other than polyps and mushrooms, or is that pretty much it? Could I do a colony of star polyps and clove polyps? Any other low maintainence corals I coiuld put in there? I'd like to eventually get seahorses, but I know that my tank wouldn't be ready for one for over a year.

Any suggestions or advice you can offer me for my fist saltwater tank? Let me know of any corals I could possibly grow in a 2-2.5 watt per gallon tank. Thanks!

Byez!! Very Happy

your coral choices are mainly mushrooms. but don't worry there are many different colours and textures of mushroom corals and a mushroom tank can be attractive. especialy if you get your self a little lemon goby. cute little things and perfect for a nano and it would be a nice contrast of yellow on red/blue/green/purple.

my 2 cents

good luck!

K, I was looking at LiveAquaria today and they offer a Nano Cube coral pack. Here's the site: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=2033
Do you think I could put those corals in a 12 gallon Nano cube with 2 watts per gallon? I'm assuming that I can since that's what the pack is for, but I'd like a second opinion. The original Nanos don't have the greatest circulation, but I could get a mini powerhead and mount it somewhere in the tank on the other side away from the filter outlet, so I could get more current going if needed.

Thanks for any help guys!

Rolling Eyes "Nano-packs" are certainly becoming a burden. There are some species listed that might do well and others not so well. Being that these are living animals and many of them are still being taken from the wild, I would suggest reading a good book on the subject of coral husbandry before proceeding.
