Hi, I have been treating my 37H 3 week old tank for ICH.
Monday will be 2 weeks. There are no more spots on them. I wanted to know how long to treat after 2 weeks are up and no more spots?
(ammonia 1.0 (did a water change), nitrate less than 20 and 0 nitrties, temp 79 pH 6.6)
Thank you Confused

You should stop treating the tank when the pots are gone. There's no real problem with treating it for longer, but you should try and save as much medication as you can for future outbreaks (if there are any). I'd stop treating the tank and replace my filter media (since it could be colonized with ick parasite if it wasn't removed during treatment).

Byez! Very Happy

Thank you sahara for your quick response....
I don't have any filter media in there other than the biowheel.

First off, you really need at least filter floss in the chamber to catch debris, dust and poop. Otherwise you are just circulating water and debris.

Secondly, I would treat the tank at least 3 days after you stop seeing spots. The only stage where ich is succeptable to medicaiton is when it is free swimming, so if you stop medicating when there are still parasites in the water they can still latch on and cause a whole new infestation.

It'll go in the chamber behind the wheel. Best thing is to get a huge sheet and cut pieces off for yourself to size. or you can buy cartridges for it, but they usually have carbon and you don't want to add carbon to a tank that is being freshly medicated.

It'll look like that. You can buy them already cut or large sheets. The picture is to give you a general idea though.

What type of filter is it?
