Are you interested in being part of an online informational group? If you have an aquarium 10 gallons and up, you are eligable. Basically, every week I'll start a topic about fish or aquariums, and all members will be allowed to join in and share their opinions. Others can view the information we put out. The first 20 people to sign up will become members. To sign up, Put your name on a reply and add d26x5y. for example:
Greatwhite d26x5y
Add any comments you would like.
Rules and regulations will be discussed at the next meeting.
Meeting is adjorned. _________________ Gotta love our little fine-finned friends. |

Ummm...you do realize that anyone participating in this board is already part of an online informational group, don't you?
And that what we do here every day is start topics about fish or aquariums, where all members are allowed to join in and share their opinions.
And others can view the information we put out.
So, aside from limiting your membership to 20 random people, what exactly are you proposing that your group should do differently than what everyone already does on the board itself?
I'm also curious to know exactly what kind of "authority" you believe that you plus a group of 20 random people who happened to be the first to stumble upon this topic would have _________________ Are you a Fish-HAVER or a Fish-KEEPER?

Greatwhite, you have no authority on 10 gallon tanks, especially when your suggesting that people can keep a betta and two dwarf gouramis in a three gallon bowl -
http://www.aquahobby.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=117882&highlight=#117882
Or how about five Danios in a 2.5 gallon tank -
http://www.aquahobby.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=121850&highlight=#121850
You also claim that you can only have Otos in tanks with 'one and a half sides of algae?' Sorry how do you measure one and a half sides of algae?
To be honest greatwhite your suggestions are wrong, and you are misleading people, while others one this board are telling people the correct way to keep their fish. You can believe that keeping fish in tanks which are way too small for them is okay, but don't encourage other people to do it.
By the way I'm not joining your club....ROTFL ! |

Greatwhite,
You are likely fairly young or at least "young" to fish-keeping. It's understandable that you want to learn about fish and are excited about the hobby. This is great, but don't jump the gun. You need to do a lot of reading and a lot of fish-keeping on a successful scale before you can speak w/ any type of authority on the subject.
Your suggestion is a good idea, infact, it's so good that it's already been done... www.aquarank.com ... a lot, and you happen to be posting on a board that has taken your idea and made it into a very successful, informative forum for learning about and trouble shooting your fish-keeping experiences.
If you want to start your own website, go ahead, but wait until your an authority on the subject and don't be discouraged that people are telling you not to dive in, they are concerned about fish and don't want them to be mistreated by individuals who mean well but don't know enough to do well. _________________ 20g planted - 1.5 wpg - pea gravel/sand/laterite - DIY co2 |

Hee-HEE!
Funny stuff.
I've seen this d26x5y thing around before somewhere; but I don't know what it means. I have a feeling that THAT is what this is really all about, not some goofy attempt at forming a consortium, but that's just a wild guess. |
