Can anyone tell me how to clean the hoses on a canister filter? My fear is using the wrong thing to clean them and killing fish. Any ideas appreciated.

Clean them with plain water and one of those brushes that looks like a big pipe cleaner. Like these, http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441781395&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030125&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1113483361107

There is a product on the market with two brushes at either end and approx about a metre of metal connection between the two brushes. Look at the aquarium shops to see if they stock them.

If the others are too short maybe these would work out.

Well, that just solved the problem. I have the narrow brush. Tie a weight on a string, drop it thru and pull the brush thru. Thanks Dr!!!!!! Laughing
