I know that some may not think it's good taste to make an Angelfish look like a goldfish or koi, but personally I thought they were quite beautiful and I admired this breeder's effort to enhance and fix the orange tones in his lineages, resulting in the first "colored" angelfish without resorting to any type of questionable practice. Has anyone ever seen these for sale?
Are you a Fish-HAVER or a Fish-KEEPER?
Success with a fish/tank is measured in YEARS, not months or weeks...

I thought the "koi" variety had to have the red cheeks....the scales over the cheeks are transparent, so they appear "red". I have one "koi" angel, and another that is similarly colored without the red cheeks. They are still juveniles, but the orange color is spreading quite a isn't as extensive as his fish are, but it covers thier top half, and bleeds down the fins and gills. I got them at my LFS, when they were TINY. The guy had bought a mated pair on Aquabid and had more fry that he could handle.
I like them quite a bit, but usually prefer the darker colors.

All koi have the blushing gene that makes there "cheeks" show red when younger. But that is usually covered up by irredecence as they get older.

Marcos if you asking if Dave Halsnick sells any of his koi then the answer is almost never. However there are 2 also very well known koi breeders:
If your ever in New York stop by Aquaruim Adventure and say hello!

I currently have 6 of these beauties that I got from a fellow hobbyist who hopes to become a fulltime breeder in the near future. They are all together and I have 2 pair that spawn about every 2 weeks, but I never get any wigglers. They get eaten before getting to that stage.
