I have to agree with marto. There is no need for any more hiding spots. I too have zebra loaches and kuhli loaches in one of my tanks. They don't bother too much about hiding spots and all that.

when you have a kuhli loach there can never be too many hiding spots Very Happy

however, the clown loach needs A WAY bigger tank and friends and the kuhli loach needs friends of his own species. so my advice. either upgrade to a larger tank w/ friends for the clown loach or sell him to some one who will give him a happy home w/ friends. get more kuhli loaches at least 2 more.

my 2 cents

I second SLACkra on that - Clown loaches are a shoaling fish, and need lots of swimming space. Keeping him in a 18G tank is going to stunt his growth - and cause immune system problems - not to mention the lack of swimming space will frustrate him! I would find him a bigger tank with some friends. Smile

I'm a bit paranoid to have the water touching the top of the filter. if I have my filter off the ground it won't produce much bubbles.

ill top it up when I get back from my holiday in brisbane. my mum is going to feed my fish so I have set out how much food the fish get daily in lil plastic bags
