OMG a Guns N' Roses topic! Very Happy Very Happy
GN'R are one of my fave bands!
I think November Rain and Sweet Child o' Mine are the two best GN'R songs.

It's a serious reality check for me to even think that GnR has a Greatest Hits compilation. I'm old enough to remember being a teenager when Appetite was released.

Personally, my fave is still Sweet Child, Slash was and still is one hell of guitar player. (I can say this as an educated guitar player- his tone is like Neil Young's sound, entirely unable to be replicated.) Also, for anyone who wasn't around or aware at the time, the first Izzy solo album is awesome.

I'm going to have to go dig out some CDs after reading this. I was really into GnR for a while but haven't listened to them for quite some time. I saw them at Gateshead Arena once when they toured the UK, during Axl's "I'm sitting at the piano" phase. Slash joined that long list of guitarists who all taught me never to go near a guitar again.

Its kind of interesting to think about how many people worshipped that band, despite axl's singing voice. Razz Don't get me wrong, I like GnR fine, but I think it puts the current 'pop' music trends into perspective. A great voice and team of marketers don't sell records like bands like U2, GnR, Metallica, etc do, even after the band breaks up (In the case of GnR and The Beatles). Something to be said about passion. Smile

Yeah, axl's gone but GNR lives on. They're just called velvet revolver now. I never really liked sweet child of mine, too whiney. Paradise city and my michelle rocked though.

Velvet revolver is a combination of GNR and the great Stone Temple Pilots. Agreed that they are a great band but it isnt just GNR Laughing Wink
