I'm not sure if this belongs here but anyways, I was searching through ebay and came across this tank. Atleast they say its a tank.

Could you imagine the water level half way with a bunch of plants and a betta in that thing?? I just thought it would be cool to have. Thanks for letting me share. Very Happy

T-A-C-K-Y

lol, but sure, it could be neat. There are some nice ones available that are hanging orbs. They sort of look like desk lamps, but there is a hanging ball of water instead of a light.

As I am right into retro, I think its a cool collectors item and would fit right in with any late 60's early 70's decor.

What is TACKY now, was IN then. lol

Tacky, and moreover - giant lens (ie sphere full of water) + sunlight = fire. Seriously, you want to commit arson without leaving obvious tracks, one of these things in a window is the way to go.

Disclaimer: Obviously, that's a very very bad idea.

The more serfice area/volume the better. In this sphere you may have a lot of problems because the serface area is very very small for the overall volume of the tank. That being said I think it is very cool looking and with the right furniture, tacky could become an arcitectual masterpeice.

Actually yes I can. They have one at my LFS set up pretty much how you described. The only real difference is that the base is black and not white. Its kind of neat to look at but it really distorts the way the fish look and I really hate that. But then again I don't like hex tanks either. Its nice to see in the shop but I would never want one of my own. I bet it would look wicked cool in Disco Stu's house though.

lol Yes Disco Stu would love it!

Tacky or not I thought it was cool. First time I have seen a round tank bigger than a fish bowl. I would assume it was plastic. Right?

Anyways, I see that there are a few people who don't appreciate RETRO. lol To each there own I suppose Wink

At the bottom of the page in the questions recorded that were asked of the seller it says that this "ball" could not be used as a fish tank because it could only be filled up the halfway mark and it was suited for a small animal instead--probably a hamster or lizard or something??

strange.... Cool
